$4 Million Renovation of Coronado High-Rise Completed by Jvb Construction Management

September 21, 2008
JVB Construction Management (JVB) has completed a $4 million renovation to the 14-story El Mirador Tower in the Coronado Shores condominium development.

The 30-year-old building required major reconstruction work on balconies, hand railings and other core elements to correct past unfulfilled maintenance to update the building and maintain the high values of the property.

The scope of the engagement also included major concrete spalling repair, replacement of all balcony and terrace coating systems, comprehensive painting and a structural retrofit to the suspended concrete canopy structure over the entryway. JVB was involved from the initial cost estimating, assisting with bidding and overseeing construction management and quality control of the work for all contractors.

“This work was essential for the long-term viability of El Mirador and the safety of our residents,” said Hal Aronson, a board member of the El Mirador homeowners association and veteran consultant/contractor. “We relied on JVB to keep us on schedule and budget throughout the project. Without doubt the approach developed by JVB saved the homeowners association money and produced a better, safer project.”

JVB consulted with the board of directors of the El Mirador homeowners association in advance to determine the full scope of the project.

The Contractor involved in the renovation project was AV Builder Corp and Nautilus General Contractors.
