San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina Sea Wall Repair Project
JVB managed the major reconstruction of the sea wall that involved encasing the 1500-foot long wall with 14 inches of concrete to below the low water line.
The reason for the project was the deterioration occurring on the steel sheet pile wall, which would have ultimately led to the failure of the wall. Without this repair the wall would have eventually failed, creating pedestrian safety hazards and resulting in a very costly replacement project.
Work was done from a series of custom built coffer dams which were built for the project. The challenges included an extremely congested work environment and working within the sensitive marine area.
The project was completed on time, ahead of project schedule and below project budget. The project was awarded the Marine Resources Award by the American Concrete Institute.
